機構簡史        History

中華展望是一個北美基督教神學機構，成立於1989 年 九月。是由陳濟民博士，劉少平博士，麥裕沛博士，和林慈信博士看見北美中國大陸知識份子 (學者) 他們對真理、神學和屬靈需要所創辦的。機構宗旨乃基於正統《聖經》信仰與關切華人教會之生命與前途，為了呼籲中國人的教會，回到基督面前，回到全備、最高權威、無謬無誤的《聖經》中，從事護教神學的事工。事工著重在改革宗信仰及神學教學和出版有關的書籍，或翻譯神學書籍 (英翻中) ，事工對象是華人基督徒。
 
1989年到1992年中華展望總部設在紐約州，1990 年在美國紐約州註冊，是美國稅務局認可的 501 (o) (3) 非營利免稅機構。1992年至1997年中華展望遷往芝加哥。在此期間設有獎助學金，支持鼓勵有志於追求歸正神學的北美中國大陸知識份子 (學者) 有機會入神學院進修。同時在1996年成立加拿大姊妹機構 (Horizon Ministries Canada) 在英屬哥倫比亞省註冊, 是加拿大政府和美國稅務局認可的非營利免稅機構。此時的事工著重出版神學著作，供應加拿大中國大陸知識份子 (學者)的需用。1997 年中華展望總部再次遷往洛杉磯。事工著重提供改革宗信仰神學的資料，《聖經》神學、系統神學、教義歷史、應用神學‧‧‧等等, 神學的教學。目標在呼喚華人教會回歸到十六世紀清教徒時期的以聖經為中心的信仰。

中華展望成立十九年來，開發國內、外短期和長遠的神學課程有: 系統神學，護教學，《聖經》輔導，神學導論，保羅神學等等……神學課程。總幹事林慈信牧師經年往返巡迴新加坡的Tyndale 神學院，馬來西亞聖經神學院，曼谷聖經大學及神學院，印尼的Bandung神學院，香港神學院，東京大學及神學院，中國大陸陪訓，美國亞洲改革宗神學院，北美多處教會 (華盛頓D.C. 、亞特蘭大、費城……) 和北美華人基督教網絡電視台 (CCNTV) 教授神學課程和神學講座。林牧師是美國長老會按立的牧師, 在洛杉磯國際神學院授課，目前是該校的系統神學教授。林牧師也是加州威敏斯特神學院的客座教授，歸正學院常任講師和聖約神學院的合作教授。

中華展望事工包括: 製作神學的課程的錄像帶、錄音帶、錄影帶 ; 以及中文神學講義、資料和書籍的出版。一切的事工經費全仰賴神的供應及神兒女們的奉獻與支持。

China Horizon is an evangelical ministry engaged in the teaching of the Reformed faith among overseas Chinese Christians. 

It was originally founded in September 1989, by Drs. Che Bin Tan, Sow Pheng Liew, Rudolf Mak and Samuel Ling, to meet the spiritual needs of mainland Chinese intellectuals (PRC’s) in North America.  It was headquartered in New York from 1989 to 1992, and Chicago from 1992 to 1997.  From 1992 to 1997, China Horizon granted scholarships and encouraged a select group of overseas mainland Chinese leaders to pursue theological education. 

In 1997, China Horizon was re-located in Los Angeles.  It was transformed to serve as a teaching ministry conducting courses and seminars, and publishing books and resources in biblical and systematic theology, history of doctrine and practical theology, in the Reformed tradition.  Its mission is to call the Chinese church to return to the historic, biblical faith of the Protestant Reformers of the 16th century. 

Throughout China Horizon’s 19-year history, her president, Rev. Samuel Ling, has lectured widely in various seminaries, such as Singapore Bible College, Tyndale Seminary, Malaysia Bible Seminary, Reformed Institute (USA and Asia), Bangkok Bible College and Seminary, Bandung Theological Seminary (STTB, Indonesia), and the Biblical Seminary of Hong Kong. 

Since 2002 Dr. Ling has taught at International Theological Seminary in Los Angeles (www.itsla.edu), where he currently serves as professor of systematic theology.  He is visiting professor at Westminster Seminary California, and adjunct lecturer at Covenant Theological Seminary (www.covenantseminary.edu).   Rev. Ling is a minister in the Presbyterian Church in America (www.pcanet.org). 

In addition to teaching, China Horizon is involved in the recording of audio and video resources, and publishing of theological resources in Chinese.

China Horizon is a non-profit organization pursuant to Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Service Code, and is supported by voluntary contributions. She is dependent on God and his people’s contributions to carry on this teaching and publishing ministry.

Horizon Ministries Canada was incorporated in 1996 in the Province of British Columbia. Its focus in ministry among mainland Chinese intellectuals (PRCs) is publishing literature for PRCs in Canada.
