Dear Friend of China Horizon: 

Christmas season is here.  May the Lord give you deep joy and real peace in the midst of the crowds and the rush for celebration.  Like Mary, let us ponder what the Lord has done ... in our hearts.  

We thank God for many blessings in 1999.  Thank God for friends who encourage us, who pray for us, who challenge us to stay faithful and obedient to the Lord Jesus.  Speaking the truth in love is costly. It is needed and appreciated.  

Thank God for a church where we have found a home for fellowship.  Mildred and I enjoy the families and singles in West Los Angeles, where we can serve among friends.  

Thank God that our children are finding their place in God's kingdom, and a vision to serve.  Both are very interested in children - the leaders of the 21st century!  

Thank God for the younger generation of Christian leaders who challenge me to mentor and provide theological leadership for their vision and goals.  I call the next generation of Chinese Christians "the no-nonsense generation."  They want solid help and guidance; if they don't find it in us, they will go elsewhere.  

Thank God for victory in the face of the Enemy, Satan's attack.  Thank God that strength is available in weakness and trial.  

Thank God that we can look into the long term future, and say, "Let us get ready for the 2020s."  Serving brothers and sisters, students and pastors who long to make an impact in the 2000s, 2010s and 2020s is indeed a privilege.  

May you rest in God's peace and His almighty arms this season.  Thank you for standing by with us.
